Ruchi Saini
Ruchi Saini is a devoted disciple of the eminent Kathak Maestro, Late Guru Munna Shukla of the Kalka Bindadin (Lucknow) Gharana. As a committed practitioner of the arts, she has spent over two decades performing and curating Kathak baithaks, workshops, and conversations that bring artists and art lovers together in meaningful spaces of exploration.
Her dance is rooted in a holistic philosophy — nurturing body, mind, and spirit through the discipline of Kathak and the values it upholds, while gently opening pathways to new modes of expression. She is based in New Delhi, India, and conducts workshops across the country and internationally.
My Guru
Guru Munna Shukla ji (1943–2022) was a leading light of the renowned Lucknow Gharana of Kathak. The grandson of the legendary Pandit Achhan Maharaj and the disciple-nephew of Pandit Birju Maharaj, he inherited a lineage of extraordinary brilliance.
In an age enamored by dizzying chakkars and lightning footwork, his artistry lay in the art of kathavaachan — storytelling through dance — where simplicity concealed great depth, and movement sparkled with dynamic spirit.
